Massachusetts' athletes turned in some impressive performances at the Stanford Invitational this past weekend.
The highlight of the meet for the Bay State was the performance of former Wachusett standout Colin Bennie in the Invitational 10,000-meter run. The Syracuse junior clocked a PR of 28 minutes, 37.04 seconds, an effort that earned him a sixth-place finish. St. John's grad Peter Monahan, a junior at Notre Dame, ran to a best of 30:41.71.
Former Bishop Feehan all-stater Abby McNulty, a Stanford senior, came close to matching her PR in the Women's Invitational 10K, placing 11th with a time of 33:37.36. In the collegiate division, Concord's Megan Ratcliffe, a Brown University senior, was second overall with a nearly two-minute best of 33:49.57. Former Feehan standout Kate Svensen of Sacred Heart, improved on her PR by two minutes, too. She crossed the line in 35:00.84.
Boston College junior Ian Ritchie (Wakefield Memorial) clocked an all-time best in the 800m where he was timed in 1:52.74.
Georgetown sophomore Marge Cullen (Needham) ran to a best of 10:23.10 in the 3,000m steeplechase.
