This past weekend we saw several strong performances at the Last Chance To Qualify Meet.
In the girls' mile run, Newton South's Lucy Jenks broke five minutes for the first time, winning with a time of 4:57.94, the second fastest clocking in the state so far and No. 15 on the national list.
Littleton's Sarah Roffman, our state-leader in the two mile, went down in distance by competing in the 1,000-meter run. Roffman ran a nearly eight-second PR, winning with a time of 2:56.66, No. 3 in the state.
Peabody's Marc Alperen dominated the boys' 1K. The talented senior was all alone at the finish, crossing the line in a PR of 2:35.74.
Plymouth North manufactured a fast time in the boys' Sprint Medley, combining their efforts to a final time of 3:35.66. That performance, along with second-place Saint John's, secured qualifying spots for next month's New Balance Nationals.
Finally, Littleton's girls' 4x800m squad improved on its best by taking the event with a time of 9:30.17, second fastest statewide.
Now we want your vote. Of these five performances, which one do you feels belongs at the top. Check out our poll below and make your pick. Voting ends Saturday at midnight.
In last week's poll, Lincoln's Sudbury's sub eight-minute clocking in the 4x800m relay and Littleton's Sarah Roffman's victory in the two mile at the Coaches Invitational, were our top vote-getters.
