Acton-Boxborough's Samantha Friborg ranks No. 1 for 800m after her win at the Yale Track Classic.
No doubt our high school track & field athletes have been manufacturing some outstanding performances this winter season. The question is how do they rank among the best of the best? In other words, how do our Bay Staters matched up against the top athletes in the country? Well, it's impressive. We scanned through our national rankings and picked out all the MA athletes that are ranked among the top 20 in the nation.
Over the past two weekends, two of our athletes put themselves at the top of the list. With her victory in the 800-meter run at the Yale Track Classic where she clocked an all-time best of 2:10.26, Acton-Boxborough's Samantha Friborg solidified her No. 1 spot. Needham's Davonte Burnett is in a three-way tie at No. 1 in the 55m dash. His meet-record of 6.34 at the recent Coaches Invitational secured his status.
Below are the athletes that made the Top-20 list.
