MSTCA Winter Festival Meets This Weekend

MSTCA Winter Festival Large Schools

SUNDAY

PERFORMANCE LIST

This meet will include a number of returning champions. Newton North's Andrew Mah, who just finished an outstanding cross-country season where he was a runner-up at the All State Meet and also qualified for the Nike Cross National, is scheduled to compete in the mile and two mile. At last year's meet, Mah was the the two-mile victor. He has seeds of 4:25.58 for the mile and 9:15.26 for the deuce. The girls' high jump is a must-see event and could be a preview of the All State Meet with last year's 1-2 finishers Zoe Dainton of Hingham and Julia Jordahl-Henry of Wellesley entered. Dainton, who is the defending titlist at the Winter Festival, and Jordahl-Henry have both done 5-8. Jordahl-Henry's twin sister, Anna, could also contend. She's done 5-6. After a splendid sophomore season where he was the No. 2 runner in the country for the 600m, Theo Burba of Newton North will debut in his first major meet. He clocked 1:18.62 last winter. Woburn's Avery Leydon, the defending 600m state champion, will be competing in the 300m on Sunday. Can she dip under 40 seconds? It's possible. She brings a best of 40.67.
