Neeham's Nell Haney is all alone as she cruises to a win at the Catholic Memorial Invitational.
Once again, we had several of our MA athletes manufacture some top performances on the trails over the weekend.
Natick's Grace Connolly competed in her first big meet of the season and cruised to a dominating win at the McIntyre Twilight Invitational where she was timed in a near record of 17:13.93 in the Division 1 race. In the boys' Div. 1 race, it was Brookline's Lucas Aramburu, who nabbed first, crossing the line in 15:32.0. The Division 2 race saw Littleton's Sarah Roffman (17:57.40) and Ayer-Shirley's Ethan Matthews (15:30.50) take the top prize. There was also gifted underclassman Mike Griffin of King Philip. The nation's No. 2 freshman miler last year captured the Sophomore boys' race with a time of 16:06.90.
At the Catholic Memorial, much-improved Nell Haney of Needham clocked sub-20 with a winning time of 19:38.50. Mansfield's Kalin Petrov led his team to the title in the boys' race by finishing second overall with a time of 16:02.80.
Now we want your vote. From the performances mentioned above, what one do you feel belongs at the top, Voting ends Saturday at midnight.
Last week we had two separate boys' and girls' polls. In the girls' poll, Wellesley's Margaret Donahue was our top vote-getter for her first place effort in the Class A race of the Bay State Invitational. Saint John's 1-2-3 finish in the Class C race at Bay State took the top spot in the boys' poll.
