Lowell Takes Second at Manchester Invitational

With a gap of just six seconds between their first and fifth runners, Rhode Island powerhouse Bishop Hendricken proved to much for its competition at Saturday's Manchester Invitational at Derryfield Park.

But the boys from Lowell High got the next best thing at the top New Hampshire meet. The Red Raiders finished second overall in the Large School race, compiling a low score of just 80 points. Hendricken scored 54 points.

Lowell averaged a crisp 16 minutes, 46 seconds for the challenging five-kilometer layout. Leading the way was Nasir Gibson, who was third overall with a time of 16:26. Rounding out the scoring for Lowell was Colin Fitzpatrick (sixth, 16:32), Jadiel Pinales (16th, 16:43), Carlos Rivera (26th, 16:59) and Matthew O'Neill (29th, 17:07).
