Central Massachusetts Division 2 Boys
At last year's divisional meet, Hopedale ran away with the team championship by scoring just 42 points, a comfortably 59 points ahead of second-place Oakmont. With four of its top seven returning, including defending individual titlist Brandon Hall, the Blue Raiders look primed to win their eighth straight title in mid November. But, unlike previous years, Hopedale might receive some stiff competition this fall. One team in particular is Parker Charter, which features last year's Div. 2 state runner-up Nico Agosta. Hopedale, which also claimed its second state title in the last three years in 2016-17, have a solid core coming back. Joining Hall from last year are returning veterans Bryce Brown and Andrew Doran. Brown was 16th at the divisionals and 32nd overall at the All States, while Doran was ninth and 33rd, respectively in those meets. Giving Parker Charter a solid 1-2 punch is senior Quinn Cantrill, who was fifth at the division meet, just a second behind Agosta. He was 11th at the All States. Individually, Hall is the runner to beat. Among others that should fare well up front are Blackstone Valley's Zack Bergeron, Agosta, Cantrill and Ayer-Shirley's Ethan Mathews, Douglas's Trevor Mungeam and Doran. All six cracked the top 10 last year's CMass Div. 2 meet.
