Lucas Aramburu, Brookline
The Warrior junior was one of the most improved runners at the All State Meet in 2016. He finished 71st at a freshman and was third at last year's championship meet where he clocked 15:59 on the demanding 5K layout at the Gardner Municipal Course. Aramburu won the Manchester (NH) Invitational in 15:46 and clocked a best of 15:24.1 at the Bob McIntyre Twilight Invitational, an effort that earned him a third-place finish on the lightning-fast terrain. The Brookline standout saved his best of last by the time he finished his sophomore campaign, placing second overall in the 3,200m where he was timed in an outstanding 9:13, a significant PR when you convert to the more-commonly run two-mile distance. That race should provide a big confidence-booster for Aramburu this fall as he battles with the cream of the crop this season.
