Quick Recap Of Eastern Division 4 Championships

Cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid- to high 60-degree range on Sunday greeted the participants at Norwell High, site of the MIAA Eastern Division 4 State Championships.

Norton' senior Brooke-Lynn Williams was her usual dominant self in the sprint events. Williams breezed to the 100m crown with a time of 12-seconds flat. Earlier, she claimed the 200m title with a time of 25.09.

Underclassmen ruled the 400m dash. The boys' race was captured by Weston' freshman Peter Diebold, who clocked a personal best and state No. 11 of 50.23. Ninth-graders went 1-2 in the girls' race with Old Rochester's Meg Hughes racing to a winning time of 58.22. She was followed by Bishop Stang's Amber Lattuca, who also went under a minute with a time of 59.58. The versatile Hughes was also second in the mile where she ran 5:13.19.

Old Rochester's Danny Renwick was a triple winner. Renwick won the 110m HH at 14.55. He also was first in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches and collected 3,373 points to win the outdoor pentathlon.

In a very-competitive 800m race, four runners dipped under 1:58 with Bishop Fenwick's Shawn Carlson outlasting the field with a PB of 1:56.02. Finishing second was Ipswich's Kellan Waters at 1:56.68. Close behind was Dover-Sherborn's Erik Linden (third, 1:56.72) and Bellingham's Alex Carr (fourth, 1:57.12). 

Dover-Sherborn's Peter Boyle unleashed the javelin a state-leading 183-11. East Bridgewater's Dan Lovell clocked the state's fifth fastest time in the the 400m hurdles where he was timed in a winning time of 55.72.

Newburyport's Jack Carleo cruised to a first-place time of 9:33.96.
