For an early-season meet, the New Balance/Marathon Sports Route 228 Freshmen-Sophomore Invitational had its share of quality and record-setting performances on Saturday.

In one of the closest races of the day. Littleton sophomore Sarah Roffman held off fellow tenth-grader Sarah Reichheld of Concord Carlisle to take the girls' mile with a meet record of 5 minutes, 7.35 seconds. Reichheld just missed dipping under the old mark of 5:07.83 with her time of 5:07.99.
