Competing in the high school mile of the NYRR Millrose Games on Saturday, Newburyport senior Jack Carleo clocked a nearly three-second personal best with a time of 4:13.17, good for fourth overall in the elite field. Carleo's previous best was a 4:16.07 in a BU Mini Meet on Dec. 31.
The Newburyport standout, who has manufactured his strongest season as a high-schooler, will now focus on the Division 5 State Championships, slated for Friday at 4:30 p.m.
