Massachusetts' athletes earned two victories and a handful of podium placements during the second and final day of the Dartmouth Relays on Saturday.
St. John Prep's Nikolas Reardon, the state's top high jumper, won his specialty with a leap of 6 feet, 5 inches. The Bay State also had a first-place effort from North Andover's Erick Duffy, who took the pole vault with a winning height of 15-6.
Woburn's Avery Leydon was one of just two runners to break a minute in the 400-meter dash, placing second overall in 59.19. The race was won by nationally-ranked Sammy Watson of Rush-Henreitta (NY), who also took the Mile and ran a leg on her squad's victorious DMR squad Friday night.
In the mile, Milton's Bridget Mitchell finished behind Watson, taking runner-up honors with a state-leading 5:01.97. Tewksbury's Rachel Sessa was fourth in 5:05.36.
Collette O'Leary of Milton was second overall in the 1,000m with a strong time of 2:59.04. Chelmsford's Kristen Hohenstein clocked a personal best of 42.78 to finish third in the 300m.
Brookline's Sam Fiengold (52.85) and Andover's Devin O'Connell (53.40) were third and fourth, respectively, in the 400m dash. Somerville's Philips Magre was third overall in the 300m at 35.72.
In a highly-contested 800m race where less than two seconds separated the top six finishers, David Glavin of Weymouth was fourth with a PB and state-leading 2:01.02.
Mikaylah Schwartz of Dracut was second in the shot put with a heave of 38-7.25. The Woburn girls were second in the 4x800m relay with a combined effort of 4:08.15.
