There was little doubt that Dawn Diedricksen's team was going to be very tough to beat in the cool, optimum conditions. Hingham won three events on the way to scoring 60 points to finish well ahead of runner-up Wellesley's 43.
The victory made it an impressive fifth consecutive outdoor relay title.
Diedricksen had to juggle her lineups around with Sarah Endyke on the sidelines with an injury and the Harbormen girls answered with wins in the long jump (14.54 meters), 4x200 (1:44.85) and 4x400 (4:06.97). Defending All-State 400 champion Sierra Irvin was nothing short of sensational with the performance of the day, anchoring Hingham's 4x200 victory with a scorching 23.78 leg.
Diedricksen has the luxury of knowing that Hingham always has a strong shot at victory every meet the team goes into.
"I knew we had a great chance coming in," said Diedricksen. "We loaded up our sprint medley, 4x200 and long jump. The goal now is the Div. 2 championships. We know we'll be close to Notre Dame."
