Blog # 3---- State Coaches Invitational

Before I talk about the Coaches Invitational, I want to say "Happy Mother's Day and Thank You" to all the track moms!
Saturday started out a bit damp and rainy, but by the time the running events got under way, the clouds were clearing and the humidity was rising. With this being a ladies only meet, the crowd and the noise level were not quite as deafening as usual. However, the competition at Dilboy Stadium was amazing. The track was hot and the girls were running fast. A shout out to my friend Bella who is killing it in the 200! She is having a great season and I can't wait to see her times in late May/early June. A special congrats to Northampton's Lauren who made an hour and forty-five minute trip to compete. She had a huge PR in the discus to place 2nd and a season best in the shot put to place 6th #worththetrip.
The lady bears from Ursuline also had a great day. Ashley had a lifetime best in the long jump. Lindsey, Carolyn, and I ran PRs in the 800. Kaia ran a PR in the 400 and Camille ran a PR in the 400h. In the gutsiest race of the day, Grace got a season best in the 100h #heartandsoul #firstaidtent. I also ran a season best in the 400h and anchored our 4x400 relay team to a second place finish. Running three events at this point in the season, I am very pleased with the outcome of all of my races. Compared to this meet last year, my times are definitely better and this was a good preview for next week's relay meet. I hope everyone has a great week. It is going to be tough training in this crazy weather: heat at the beginning of the week and then cold and rainy at the end of the week. Talk to you soon...
Blog # 4 --- MSTCA Division IV State Relays

I can't believe how quickly the outdoor season is coming to a close. The spring is so busy especially for seniors; one of the first things we do when the schedule comes out is to check for conflicts. This year it looked as though the track gods were on our side. However, when it came to this weekend's relay meet, Mother Nature had other plans. When the Division IV Relay meet was postponed to Sunday, it meant no seniors for UA. No seniors meant coach was faced with a lot of last minute reshuffling and race scratching. I'm sure there were several other teams that had to make changes as well. The officials had a very tough decision to make. I appreciate everything they do, but I would hate to have to make those tough calls. This year the girls started in the field events. Ursuline entered four events and totally rocked them, placing in three: earning two seconds (long jump and discus) and a sixth (javelin). The shot put team missed placing by one inch. Shout out to Coach Enos and the throwers #UADiscusRecord. The UA throwers have made amazing progress and I can’t wait to see what happens as the season championships begin. On the track, the lady bears started off strong placing third in the mile relay. With a reduced squad today, Ursuline was only entered in three more races. The SMR placed first and 4x200 placed second. All in all, we had a great day and earned 41 total points. I can only imagine what may have happened if we had our full roster. With the Last Chance Meet and South Shore Principles Meet coming up this weekend and Division Championships coming up soon, I want to wish everyone lots of luck in their training and hope they meet the goals that they set at the beginning of the season. I would also like to wish Godspeed to the seniors as they graduate in the coming weeks. Talk to you soon...

The Amy Piccolo Blog: The Twilight EditionARTICLE On Saturday night, the Weston High School Track was definitely the place to be. The Twilight Meet is always a fun event for athletes and spectators and tonight was no different. I'm sure that I wasn't the only athlete that was a bit tired after attending a Prom Friday night and taking SATs Saturday morning. 'Tis the season. So, hanging out with friends at the track was just what the doctor ordered. Since coach arrived early, we had an awesome spot for our tent, right at the finish line, ready to cheer everyone to victory. As the night went on, we saw some great races. Twilight Girls Recap: Piccolo, Dietz Shine Under the LightsARTICLE With SATs in the morning and her junior prom the night before, Amy Piccolo was a little tired before lining up for her 800-meter race at the Weston Twilight Invitational Saturday night. But it still didn’t stop her from doing what she does best – winning! The junior from Ursuline Academy held back in the early stages of the race and with less than 200-meters remaining kicked into high gear en route to a first-place time of 2 minutes, 18.42 seconds.
