Westwood Running Camp

When: August 17th-22nd, 2014

Where: Camp Winadu Pittsfield, Ma

The Executive directors of Camp Westwood, Frank Mooney, John and Christine Gregorek, have a combined 100 years plus of coaching experience. Part of this experience has been Camp Westwood which was founded in 1995. Coach Mooney has spent 45 plus years coaching at Seekonk High School where he has coached All-State athletes and has won multiple league, division, and state championships. The Gregorek’s bring years of running at the highest level (Olympics and National Championships) and years of coaching at Brown University to the camp experience. If you add in long time councilors Norm Bouthillier of Tollgate High School and Bob L’Homme of Bishop Feehan High school, this camp could possibly have close to 200 years of experience. Norm and Bob have also had their share of league and state champions and championships!!

The camp is limited to under 125 athletes in order to keep a low camper to counselor ratio. All runs a closely supervised. Counselor interaction with the campers is high. Two runs per day, ice breakers, camp games, and pool time, are just a few of the highlights. Our large pool allows for daily swims and pool/water training sessions are part of the learning experience. Camp Westwood is run at Camp Winadu in Pittsfield Ma. located in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts.Visit our website at www.crosscountrycamp.net.

Many of our runs are done at the Pittsfield State Forest. Since 1995 the camp has been providing a solid base for all types of high school cross country runners from 28 minute 5k runners to the 7th man, to League Champions, Divisional, and All-State Champions.  Shalane Flanagan, who won a silver medal in the 2008 Olympic Games, is one such example.  An enthusiastic camp staff helps create and cultivate an atmosphere that prepares all runners for an exciting season. Runners leave w/ an understanding of training, hard work, and the fun that running can provide for a life time. The following are just a sample of some of our guest speakers:
