McNulty wins mile at MIAA state meet

Bishop Feehan star Abby McNulty, a Cumberland resident, earned gold in the mile run at the MIAA Indoor Track Championships on Saturday. McNulty was timed in a personal best of 4 minutes, 55.25 seconds. Finishing second was Lowell sophomore Kaley Richards in 4:57.18.

After a somewhat slow half-mile split of 2:31, McNulty and Richards seperated themselves from the pack. McNulty took control by the 1,200 (3:44) and gradually built a comfortable cushion over Richards by the finish, clocking a time that ranks No. 15 in the nation.

The two runners were at it again in the two mile with Richards taking top honors at 10:59.97. The Stanford-bound McNulty was the runner-up at 11:02.53.
