Carelo 4:15.80 At B.U, Shepard 2:10.68 At Hispanic Games; both US# 1's !
While the Freshman / Sophomore Invitational dominated the headlines all weekend, a few upperclassmen ran some impressive times around the Northeast. Newburyports' Nick Carleo turned in a US#1 time of 4:15.80 at the Boston University mini meet. The Junior was just ahead of Garrett O'Toole of the Middlesex School in Concord, Ma. O'Toole's time was 4:16.1 which lands the prvate school runner in both the US and Ma # 3 spots. Gabe Montague of Newton North recorded a 4:15.82 last weekend at the Holiday Chalenge. This should lead to a very interesting New Balance Grand Prix Mile on February 8th.
The #1 U.S.ranked 1000 Meter runner, Karina Shepard, traveled to New York City for the Hispanic Games. The Dracut Hgh School Senior won the Seeded 800 Meter run with a US #1 time of 2:10.68. Shepard will be attending Stanford next Fall.
