New England Collegiate Championships: CCSU Men, UNH Women Top Teams

 

New England Collegiate Championships

The prestigious New England Championship's is now over 100 years old, and it's still one of the most popular collegiate races in the Northeast.  With the Pre National Meet on the agenda next week in Wisconsin, many of the top ranked teams opted to sit out the New England's. This opened the doors for both Central Connecticut State University for the Men, and the Women's team from the University of New Hampshire to take home team titles.

CCSU was led by Seniors Craig Hunt (5th) and Bran Biekert (7th) as the Blue Devils held off Northeastern for the victory. Northeastern placed four in the Top 10, led by former Massachusetts State Champion Wesley Gallagher (3rd) , but the Huskies 5th runner dd not break the top 100. The UNH women took advantage of the Providence College absence to seal the victory quite easily with 57 points. The Wildcats had an impressive 33 Second 1-5 gap that was unmatched in the 5K at Franklin Park.
