Umass Invitational: BC Women & UConn Men Take Home Titles

The Umass Invitational took place Saturday on a beautiful fall day in Amherst, Ma. Umass, Vermont, UMaine, Amherst, Uconn, and Boston College all participated in this early season invitational. The coaches got a first glimpse at their teams in action, as they prepare for more intense battles in the weeks ahead.

In the Mens 6200 Meter Race, the UConn Huskies placed five runners in the top 15 as they were led by freshman Mike O'Donnell's (19:22) second place finish.  The University of Maine was led by Kelton Cullenberg first place (19:15), and a strong 3rd place by Alexander Moser (19:27). Umass Amherst freshman Blake Croteau (19:33) led the Minutemen to a 3rd place team finish.

The Boston College Eagles won the women’s race scoring a low 21 points. The Eagles were led by a 1-2 finish by Liv Westphal (16:58), and Madeline Davidson (17:19). Brittany Winslow (17:23) and Morgan Mueller (17:37) finished 4th and 5th respectively as the Eagles showed why they will again be one of the elite teams in the region. UConn's Emily Durgin (3rd Place) and Bridgitte Mania (6th) led the Huskies to a distant second place team finish.
