The two-time defending Division 5 state champion Clippers started the season with a win at Maudslay State Park. Nick Carleo (15:45) placed first. Chris Orlando (3rd, 16:37), Joe Molvar (4th,16:47), Josh Molvar (6th, 17:16) and Tim Englehart (8th, 17:46) rounded out the scoring.

Whitman-Hanson 19, North Quincy 43; Whitman-Hanson 15, Quincy 49: The Panthers took six of the top seven spots in their season opener.
Senior Brian Sheppard finished the 2.5-mile course in first in 13:46. Sam Evans (second), Pat Brett (fourth), Lucas Moscoso (fifth), Ty Durant (sixth) and Steve Smart (seventh) were the other top finishers for W-H.

NORTON - Senior captain Bill Sullivan led the rush to the finish line by members of the Norton High boys' cross country team Wednesday in a Tri-Valley League season-opening 18-41 victory over
Bellingham. Sullivan covered the 2.59 mile course in 14:16 with Mike Tierney (14:19) and Max Marcotte (14:24) on his tail for the second and third spots.

Ian Welch won the 5K course for Rockland in 17:33, followed by junior Owen Scott and sophomore Mark Ewell.
Mesky Barosy was the top finisher for Randolph (0-1), clocking a 19:54.
Pentucket 20, Ipswich 36
Pentucket placed second through sixth in its opening-meet victory. Sam Coppola (17:56), Drew Kapener (18:16), Alex DeMeule (18:20), Cooper Carifio (19:08) and Jeremy Binding (19:13) finished in order after Ipswich’s top runner.

Liam Gallagher was Amesbury’s top finisher, placing fourth in 17:13. Jim Stone and Riley O’Connor placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

Kasey Mann placed second (21:40) for Pentucket at Pipestave Hill, a 2.95-mile course. Emma Marchant placed fourth (22:02). Kelsi McNamara (5th, 22:32), Sophie Capoeinco (8th, 24:17) and Brianna Repke (9th, 24:21) rounded out the scoring for the Sachems.

Julia Shorter had Amesbury’s top finish, placing third in 21:01. Samantha Stone and Halie Gibadlo placed fifth and seventh, respectively.

Whitman-Hanson 19, North Quincy 42; Whitman-Hanson 15, Quincy 47; North Quincy 21, Quincy 40: Sophomore Samantha Coletti finished the 21/2-mile course first in 16:15 to lead Whitman-Hanson (2-0). Emily Bryson of North Quincy was second in 16:22, and Kelsey Tierney of Whitman-Hanson was third in 16:28.
Rockland 26, Randolph 29: Stephanie Igharosa (24:11) and Marlee Vasso (24:33) were the top finishers of the 5K course for Randolph (0-1).

The Norton girls won, 23-32 as junior Corina Jurczyk (18:24) and sophomores Anya DiLorenzo and Caroline Weber claimed the 2-3-4 blocks in finishing. Norton returns to action next Wednesday, at Hopkinton
