AMHERST – Two years ago, the Amherst Regional girls cross country team failed to win the Western Massachusetts Division I title. It wasn’t so much that the Hurricanes didn’t have a good
team or elite runners. It took a very talented and deep Northampton team to end Amherst’s lengthy run. Last season, Amherst was determined to get the title back. The Hurricanes not
only reclaimed the title, but went 12-0 during the regular season and won the Valley League North crown. Amherst was also seventh in the state meet held at Boston’s Franklin Park.
