Middle Distance Runners of the Year


Thomas Lingard, Lexington

Lingard once again was our top runner for 1,000m, defending his state crown with a two-second best of 2:27.62, a time that ranked No. 7 in the country. The Lexington senior, who was unbeaten for the 1K, finished off his winter campaign by running a PR of 1:55.21 for 800m at the New Balance Nationals.


Samantha Friborg, Acton-Boxborough

In terms of dominance, Friborg was at the top of the list in the Bay State. She was our 1,000m champion. She broke 2:50 twice for the IK, winning the Division 1 and All State crowns with times of 2:49.86 and 2:49.26, respectively. She capture the divisionals by more than 12 seconds and was nearly seven seconds ahead of the competition at All States. Friborg also had a state-leading time of 1:33.25 for 600m. The A-B senior capped off her season by earning All-American status with a fifth-place finish for 800m at the New Balance Nationals where she was timed in a PR of 2:08.76.
