MSTCA Winter Festival Meets This Weekend

MSTCA Winter Festival Small Schools

SATURDAY

After a long cross-country season, most teams will be at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center for the first time this Saturday with a meet that will feature a full slate of events. Several future champions competed in this event last year, including 55-meter titlist Brooke-Lynn Williams of Norton and Burncoat's Rodney Agyare-May, who actually won the 300m (35.39) instead of the 600m, an event he would capture at the All State Meet and also break the state mark.

This weekend's meet will feature defending 300m state champion Alyssa Madden of Oakmont Regional, who will be looking to win her second straight title for the one-lapper at the Winter Festival. Other top athletes entered in Saturday's meets are Northampton's Benjamin Gordon-Sniffen, who brings a seed time of 2:35.38 for the 1,000m. There's also Division 2 state cross-country champion Sam Acquaviva, who will toe the line in the mile with a 4:25 best. Medway sprinter Ava Vasile is the No. 1 seed in the 55m dash where she owns a best of 8.49. She was second in the 300m last year. Innovation Academy's Aiden Feity is the favorite in the shot put and the only athlete that has achieved 50 feet.
