Northampton's Nik Smith captured the 100m and 200m at Saturday's meet.
It was deja vu for Wachusett girls at the MIAA Western/Central Division 1 ChHampionships on Saturday. The Mountaineers claimed their fourth straight team title, holding off second-place Longmeadow, 83-78.50.
It also turned out to be business as usual for St. John's in the boys' competition as it won its third consecutive team crown, defeating runner-up Northampton, 81-56.
In the girls' meet, Longmeadow's Abbie Mokwuah unleashed a nearly three-foot personal best in the shot with a state-leading toss of 46 feet, 4.25 inches.
Adja Sackor of Worcester Technical leaped a season best of 38-0 in the triple jump. She ranks No. 2 in the state behind Foxboro's Shiraeya Srinivasan, who won the Hockmock League Championship last week with a distance of 40-8.5.
Northmapton's Nikolas Smith broke the tape in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 10.85 and 21.51, respectively. He also ran a leg on the winning 4x400m relay squad that was timed in a state-leading 3:22.40.
Burncoat's Rodney Agyare-May claimed the 400m title with a time of 48.54.
Westfield's Ryan Prenosil and Leominster's John Gove engaged in an epic battle in the 800m with both break 1:55. Prenosil won with a time of 1:54.28, while Gove finished at 1:54.62.
