New England Championships Wrap-Up

The boys' two mile was anyone's race with a big pack still in contention in the closing laps. Newton North's Andrew Mah pushed the pace for most of the way, but it was Patrick O'Brien of Oyster River (NH) that eventually earned gold. O'Brien, a runner-up at the New England Cross-Country Championships back in November, bolted to the front just before the gun lap en route to a 10-second PR and nation No. 1 of 9:12.18. William Brisman of Fairfield Warde (CT), placed second at 9:13.65 and Mah settled for third with a best of 9:13.61. The first six across the line broke 9:20.
