Franklin Park is back in the mix for the 2014 High School Cross-Country season !
The world renown course has been the home of high school and collegiate cross-country for over 100 years, and finally it is back in action for the fall high school Cross-Country schedule. It's been a few years since the Franklin Park has seen any major high school action. The park held the last Eastern Massachusetts All State meet in 2011. The following year the park was totally out of commission, as it went through a significant renovation project. The Wrentham Developmental Center has been the recent home of many of the major high school races. It has been a very successful move because of the easy access, abundance of parking, and friendly viewing areas. This year the old course will once again see the MIAA All State meet, Catholic Memorial Invitational, and the Bay State Invitational. The Bay State Invitational will now be a varsity only meet with ten runners allowed to compete. A committee will seed the teams into four equal divisions.
On September 26th, Franklin Park will also host the Coast-to-Coast Battle of Bean town. This meet will feature many of the nationally ranked collegiate powerhouses. This early season meet will include Boston College, Providence, Cornell, Dartmouth, William & Mary, Georgetown, Harvard, Umass, UNH, Syracuse, and the Oregon Ducks. The New England Collegiate Championships will be held on October 11th.
