Fitchburg's Ramirez is building a bright future

FITCHBURG -- Being a student-athlete means learning to balance a busy schedule.

This school year Ramirez has worked tirelessly to raise his grades, hone his skills as a star shot putter on the Red Raiders' track team, keep up with his community service commitments and hold down a part-time job. His relentless determination is fueled by a desire to be the first member of his family to attend college.

Those around Ramirez have taken notice of his efforts, and he was recently selected as the MIAA's male Student-Athlete of the Month for February.
