EMass Small Schools: Lantz, Dominick, Dietz Crowned Champions !

Manchester Essex's Olivia Lantz continued her stellar rookie season to easily capture the Div. 6 race in 18:13.1. Ursuline's Lindsay Baryluck of Ursuline was second in 18:41.9 and Dover-Sherborn's Michelle Alessandro took the bronze in 18:42.4. The team results reflected the top 3 in the individual competition with Manchester Essex winning with 50 points, Ursuline clinching second with 87 and Dover-Sherborn putting up 98 points for third.

Lantz, who was playing soccer this time a year ago, used what she learned in winning her race at the Frank Kelley Invitational to her advantage. "I was hoping for a better time," she said. "I knew I had to focus on my own race. I used the hills more than I did at Frank Kelley. I try not to focus on my competition too much. It's about being in a zone."

Bedford's Erin Dietz successfully defeated her Div. 5 crown, but it didn't come easily, courtesy of Weston's Read Allen. Dietz held Allen off for the 18:24.1 win and Allen took second in 18:29.1. Hamilton-Wenham placed an impressive six runners in the top 12 to run away with the team title with a miniscule 30 points. Weston was second with 144 points.

Danvers' Catalina Dominick also broke 18 minutes as she ran away from the Div. 4 field for a 17:56 win. Janaya Randall of Marblehead was a distant second in 18:33.3 and Nauset's Coralee Geraniotis of Nauset took third in 18:52.6. Randall set the tone for Marblehead's team title (73 points). Wakefield was well back in second place (107 points) and Holliston took third with 137 points.
