Meet Results BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Westfield State University senior Amanda Gricus earned All-ECAC honors by placing seventh in the hammer throw at the ECAC Division III outdoor track and field championships May 19 at Moravian College. Gricus's best throw in the competition was 153-6. Rachel Ryan was Westfield's only other athlete competing at the ECAC championships. She finished 19th in the javelin (112-7).

Meet Results WESTFIELD - Westfield State University captured its seventh straight MASCAC women's cross country championship by posting a nine-point victory over rival Bridgewater State University on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Stanley Park. Weekly Honor Roll Westfield State University senior Rachel Dionne (Feeding Hills/Agawam HS) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's cross country runner of the week. The hard-working Dionne, who is also a standout lacrosse player for the Owls, placed seventh individually for Owls at Gordon College Pop Crowell Invitational with time of 19:35 over 5K layout. She led Westfield to seventh place in the 23-team meet. Preseason Check-In Date Finalized Jul 15, 2010

The Westfield men's and women's cross country arrival date has been changed from Sunday, Aug. 28, to Saturday, Aug. 27. The Residential Life department has requested the new date to accommodate their staff schedules, and the athletics department prefers the student-athletes are checked-in to their residential halls by Residential Life staff rather than Athletics. On Saturday the teams will receive medical clearance and have their first practice. The residential hall check-in time has yet to be determined but will be after 5 p.m. in order to accommodate the Resident Director training schedule.

5,000 Meter Results BEREA, Ohio - Westfield State senior Kerry Arouca (Hanson) saved her best for last by placing second in the 5,000 meter run at the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field national championships on Saturday, May 29, at Baldwin-Wallace College. Arouca finished a strong second with a time of 17:01.28, trailing only University of Chicago junior standout Liz Lawton, who captured national championships in both the 5,000 meter (16:54.05) and 10,000 meter runs. Arouca also doubled at the NCAA championships as she placed eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Friday to earn All-America honors.
