Westfield boys taking aim at Western Mass. Division I title

Last year, Westfield High School was the only Division I boys team to place three runners in the top 10 at the Western Massachusetts Cross Country Championship. That enabled the Bombers to qualify for the state meet, where they finished third.

This year, Westfield has designs on winning the Western Massachusetts championship  Saturday at Northfield Mountain. The Division I girls race first, at 11 a.m., followed by the Division II girls at 11:40. The boys Division I (12:20 p.m.) and II races (1) follow.

“They’re (the Bombers) the favorite,” said Amherst coach Chris Gould, who last year guided the Hurricanes to the title.
