Hopkinton runs deep to take TVL cross country titles

 

Sure, all the top cross country teams enjoy having those one or two standout runners. But beyond the skill at the top, cross country is also a sport of depth. When you combine the skill with the depth, it’s a recipe for success, just as Hopkinton’s boys and girls teams showed at yesterday’s Tri-Valley League meet.

 

Shelby Aarden conquered the 3.1-mile course at McCarthy Park in a course record 19:06 to take first overall, Melissa Lodge placed third in 19:57, and the Hiller girls had five runners finish in the top 15 to win the meet with 35 points. Dover-Sherborn, which won the girls race the previous two years, finished second with 50 points followed by Westwood (80), Medfield (82), and Holliston (106).
