Exeter Milers preview: Eric Jenkins

Today's Exeter Mile preview focuses on Northeastern University's Eric Jenkins.  Eric will be entering his Junior year at Northeastern after a stellar Sophomore campaign.  Eric is not exactly a local, but he is from New England. Eric graduated from Portmouth High in Portsmouth NH and entered into Northeastern in the fall of 2010.

In his freshmen campaign at Northeastern Eric laid down some huge PRs including 14:09 for 5k and 8:37 for 3k.  In his sophomore year Eric joined the speedsters at the 1000m and 1 mile distance running 2:25.47 and 3:59.18 respectively, both of which were indoors.  His accolades include being named tp the USTFCCCA All-Region Team (twice), being the first member of the Northeastern XC program to compete at the NCAA Championship since 1993, and being named the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year (The first in Northeastern University history).

With a 3:59.18 PR in the mile, Eric very well could be the man to break the 4:00 mark here in Rhode Island.
