Highlights

  • Peter Hale set a new home course record of 13:54 for the 2.65 mile distance as he led Swampscott to a 24 to 31 win over Marblehead on Monday.  Teammates Nick Hartman (14:31), Matt Mahoney (14:38), Ryan Kelley (14:56), and Matt Nardiello (14:45) combined for a 64 second 1-5 spread in the winning effort.   
  • The Newburyport boys improved to 11-0 with a 15 to 50 win over Amesbury on Tuesday and sealed the Cape Ann League title in the process.
  • Taunton locked-up the OCL Regular Season Championship in both genders with wins over Bridgewater-Raynham.  The boys defeated B-R 18 to 38, and the girls won 25 to 32.  Results
  • The Hamilton-Wenham girls completed their 7th undefeated league season with a 15 to 50 sweep over Georgetown.
  • Tanner Picklus of East Bridgewater remained undefeated in the South Shore League as he led the Vikings to a league championship with a 22 to 33 win over Abington.  Picklus broke his own course record, covering the East Bridgewater layout in 15:53.
  • The Whitman-Hanson girls earned their 5th straight undefeated Patriot League title as they took seven of the top eight places in a 16 to 45 win over Hingham on Tuesday.
  • The Pembroke boys completed their third undefeated season in the Patriot League with a 16 to 48 point win over Silver Lake.  The girls also collected a win over Silver Lake (15 to 50), and subsequently won their 5th consecutive Patriot League Fischer Division Championship.
  • Catarina Rocha of Peabody smashed another course record.  Rocha covered the Beverly High School course in 17:42, which was a minute better than the previous mark set by Kelly O'Connor four years ago.  Nicole Demars of Beverly finished second and set a sophomore class record of 19:33 on the day.  Peabody won the meet 19-35 and ended the season 7-0 with a NEC title.  Beverly finished 6-1 in league action.  The Peabody boys also secured a team tilte as they beat Beverly 17 to 43.  The Tanners finished the season 7-0 and claimed their fifth consecutive NEC title.
