Gulesian Becomes Part Of Babson College History In First Meet

Former Miami Columbus standout Mark Gulesian is making a name for himself on the collegiate level. In his first meet of the year at the New England College Invitational, the Babson College freshman beat out a field of 49 runners in a time of 16:17. He says the shortened 5k was one of the toughest courses he's ever ran on.

"It was practically straight up for 3/4 of the race. I never ran up hills like these in races. The closest race I can think of is the Mt. Dew Invitational, but this had a lot less down hills than that. Overall, it felt good. I like the feeling of being on top. I couldn't really get that in high school seeing as AJ (Armando Del-Valle) was my teammate.

For his performance Gulesian was awarded the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. It is only the fourth time ever a Babson College runner has received the award.

"It feels good knowing I am one of the best freshman runners ever at my school. It makes me feel pretty confident now. I want to break my school record as a freshman which is 25:06 for 8k and 32:00 for 10k."
