Last Week In Review: Keklak 2:06.39 800m

The Last Week in Review series was scheduled to end at the conclusion of the regular season, but the past seven days provided so many impressive performances that we decided to bring it back for one more week.

The meet of the week was the New England Championships where Massachusetts athletes won 12 individual titles (full coverage can be found on the meet page).  But the performance of the week is arguably Andrea Keklak's 2:06.39 800m at the New Balance Twilight meet.  Her time exceeds the B standard (2:06.5) for the USATF National Championships and is currently US#3.

But Keklak was not the only Lincoln-Sudbury athlete to post an impressive time that evening. The 4x800m relay team decided to skip the New England Championships because of the ACT test that morning, but all four members took to the track at Bentley College to run the open 800m. Marika Crowe posted a 2:14.46; Megan Broecker posted a 2:18.97; and Sarah Mepham posted a 2:21.15. The combined 4x800m time for the group is 9:00.97, and they look to be in peak form as they enter the New Balance Outdoor Nationals on Saturday.

The New Balance Twilight series has proven to be a tremendous alternative for high school athletes looking to get pushed, and several other prominent names took advantage of the fast packs on Saturday.  Here are some of the notable performances:
