League Championship Week Updates

SCC Indoor Championships

4 girls finish in just over a second in the mile. Emily Roseman (Old Rochester) won the event in 5:48.80.

Greater New Bedford Voc Tech took the top 2 spots in the shot put. Jasmine Burris was the event winner at 32'10.25", followed byJessica Collins at 32'2.5".

Cody Archambault (Seekonk) won the 2 mile in 9:33.80. His time is MA#7. Mason Saleeba (Dighton Rehoboth) was second in 9:43.30. His time is MA#13.

Shawn Johnson (Gr. New Bedford Voc Tech) won the 600m in 1:26.80.

Dana Dourdeville (Old Rochester) won the mile by over 20 seconds (4:34.00).

Steven Rapoza (Gr. New Bedford Voc Tech) won the 50y hurdles in 6.80 and the HJ at 6'3".

Old Rochester took the top 2 spots in the HJ. Ally Saccone won the event at 5'0", followed by Paige Santos at 4'10".

 

Greater Boston League Championships

Somerville girls win by 49 points; Malden boys win by 5 points.

Malden takes the top 2 spots in both 55m hurdles finals. David Germain is the boys winner in 8.29; followed by Tyler Williams in 8.30. Cynthia Antenor wins the girls final in 9.46; followed byAshley Connors in 9.66.

Lyndon Kaba (Somerville) wins a close one in the 55m. Kaba's time of 6.71 was .04 faster than Darren Barnes of Cambridge R&L.

Nicole Genard (Somerville) wins the 55m in 7.58. She also won the shot put at 33'4".

Peter Duperier (Everett) wins the 300m in 36.29. His time is MA#12.

Michelle Meranda (Somerville) wins the 300m by over 2 seconds (43.07).

Andre Rolim (Somerville) runs the 10th fastest 600m in the state (1:23.65). His PR of 1:22.01 is still MA#2.

The 1000m comes down to the wire as Woodrick Clervil of Cambridge R&L edges Yusuf Mohamed of Malden by 0.20.

David Germain wins the HJ in 6'4". He had a great 3rd attempt at 6'6" as the entire crowd cheered him on.

Somerville blasted a 3:27.73 in the 4x400m to end the meet.

 

Hockomock League Championships

32 National Elite marks are set as Mansfield wins both.

 

Shayne Collins (Mansfield) won the mile in 4:22.15 after breaking away late in the race.  Andrew Hood (Franklin) was second in a new PR time of 4:24.65.

Kayla Comer (Mansfield) won the 55m in 7.41. Her time is MA#15.

Jen Esposito (Mansfield) won the 300m in 41.29 but Samantha Kroll (North Attleboro) was not far behind in 41.94.

Kendal Knous (Franklin) won the 600m in 1:37.83 and ran a fantastic leg of the 4x400m. 

Emily Grotz (Oliver Ames) set a new meet record of 3:01.31 in the 1000m.

Megan Ross (Franklin) set a new meet record of 11:06.91 in the 2 mile.

Kristen McDonagh (Mansfield) won the HJ in 5'4" and was second in the 55m hurdles in 8.80. Terreyana Belin (Attleboro) was the 55m hurdle winner in 8.70.

Steve Gannon (Mansfield) just missed the 300m meet record of 35.51 set by Dave Lint in 2006. Gannon's time of 35.54 is the fastest time in the state. Jon Raduazzo (Oliver Ames) was second in 35.83.

Mansfield teammates battled it out for the 600m win. Ryan Petrella had the slight edge at 1:24.50. Griffin Robertson was second in 1:24.71.

Josh Lampron (Mansfield) and Nick O'Leary (North Attleboro) both beat Nick Wade's 2008 league record in the 1000m. Lampron was the winner 2:30.15; O'Leary was second in 2:33.36. They split 2:01 for 800m.

Greg Bourisquot (Stoughton) beat his own league record in the 55m hurdles. His time of 7.51 is the best in the state.

Mansfield set a new league record in the 4x400m, clocking in at 3:24.60.

Matt Sidney (Canton) won the HJ at 6'6".

Don Caouette (Attleboro) won the shot put at 53'7". His mark is MA#3.

 

Dual County League Championships

Lincoln-Sudbury girls and Acton-Boxborough boys win!


Rebecca Robinson (Arlington) set a new meet record in the 55m (7.22) and won the 300m (39.18). She now has the two fastest 55m times in the state.

Madison Acton (Lincoln-Sudbury) won the 600m in a MA#12 time of 1:38.08.

Andrea Keklak (Lincoln-Sudbury) and Kathy O'Keefe (Newton South) were the top 2 finishers in the 1000m; although they were in different sections. Keklak ran a MA#1 and US#3 time of 2:50.15. O'Keefe is MA#2 and US #7 at 2:53.21. Keklak's time is also the new meet  and school record.

Marika Crowe (Lincoln-Sudbury) and Abigail Pohl (Weston) battled it out in the mile. Crowe (5:11.06) edged Pohl (5:11.27) for the win. 4 girls ran 5:15 or faster.

The girls 2 mile needed a photo finish, with Meghan Brophy(Waltham) and Olivia Brackett (Weston) both finishing in 11:26.64. After a long look, Brophy was declared the winner.

Lauren Ready (Lincoln-Sudbury) ran a MA#5 time and new school record of 8.64 to win the 55m hurdles. Ready also won the LJ at 16'5.75".

Emily Raczelowski (Westford Academy) won the shot put with a MA#13 mark of 35'5".

David Blaides (Concord-Carlisle) unleashed a massive move in the final 200m of the 600m to win in 1:24.50.

David Melly (Newton South) won the mile in 4:23.65. Brett Baker (Wayland) was second in 4:28.05.

Weston took the top 2 spots in the LJ with both athletes jumping over 20 feet. Craig Shytle was the winner at 20'5", followed by Spencer Shea at 20'3.25".

 

 

Merrimack Valley Conference

57 National Elite marks and several meet records fall as Lowell and Andover collect close wins. The girls meet came down to 4 points as Andover edged Central Catholic 104 to 101.

Andover takes the top 2 spots in the HJ. Moria Cronin jumps 5'6 for the win; Jess Salley was second in 5'4.

Maggie Mullins (Andover) sets a meet record in the 2 mile at 11:09.58.

Ally Greene (Tewksbury) wins the 55m in 7.45. Her time is MA#16. 

Freshman Alexandra Wood (Chelmsford) and Nicolette Perline (Central Catholic) both beat the meet record in the mile. Wood (5:14.23) edges Perline (5:14.95) by less than a second.

Bryanna Allison (Lowell) wins the 1000m in 3:04.61. Lanie Jowett (Central Catholic) is second in 3:04.95.

6 girls run sub 1:42 in the 600m as Rebecca Stabile (Haverhill) collects the win in 1:37.99. Her time is tied for MA#11.

Eve Bishop (Andover) sets a new meet record by running 40.39 for 300m. Her time is MA#3. Bishop also won the LJ in 16'7".

The Central Catholic girls set a new meet record in the 4x800m at 9:44.47. Their time is MA#4.

Andover almost breaks the 4 minute barrier in the 4x400m. Their time of 4:01.44 is a new meet record and the new #1 time in the state.

Andover's 1:48.68 in the 4x200m is MA#5.

Simon Voorhees (Andover) and Padraic Donovan (Lowell) both run under Mike Hurton's 1976 meet record of 9:34.4 in the 2 mile. Voorhees was the winner in 9:33.12; Donovan was second in 9:33.74. 

Josh McGlaufin (Lowell) set a new meet record in the 55m hurdles, running 7.84 for the win. His time is MA#5.

Anthony Arcari (Tewksbury) wins the 55m in 6.53; Keith Hamel (Dracut) is second in 6.55. Arcari's time is MA#4 and Hamel's time is MA#8.

9 athletes run 4:45 or faster in the mile. Patrick Coppinger (Lowell) edges Will Ossoff  (Andover) for the win in 4:33.04.

Cam Kelley (Methuen), Mike Giardina (Lowell), and Ryan Cooney (Andover) all run faster than the meet record in the 1000m. Kelley was the winner in 2:33.72, followed by Giardina (2:33.97), and Cooney (2:34.30).

Pat Farnham (Andover) sets a meet record by running 35.75 for 300m. His time is MA#3.

 

Tri County League Championships

Sean Enos (St. John's Prep) wins the Shot Put in 51'8.75". His mark is MA#8. St. John's Prep takes 3 of the 6 scoring spots.

Yosa Nosamiefan (B.C. High) wins the LJ in 21'00.5" (MA#11). Brockton has 3 jumpers over 20 feet.

Nick Staley (B.C. High) - 6'6" HJ.

Dan Zawalich (Saint John's) has an impressive double; running 2:32.04 in the 1000m and 4:24.48 in the mile. Ben Halpin (St. John's Prep) was second in the mile at 4:27.61.

4 athletes run sub 1:27.00 in the 600m. Mike Galasso (St. John' Prep) was the event winner in 1:24.13.

Bryan Browne (St. John's Prep) wins the 300m in 36.37. His time is #13 in the state.

St. John's Prep wins the 4x200m in 1:32.79. Their time is #7 in the state.

 

Bay State Conference Championships

This non-scoring league championship resulted in 30 National Elite performances! To many who follow the sport, this is no surprise considering the Bay State Conference is one of the most competitive leagues in the state.

Jillian Corcoran (Weymouth) and Mairead Kiernan (Milton) went down to the wire in the 1000m. Corcoran edged out the win in 3:01.38 with Kiernan finishing second in 3:01.48. Their times are the 5th and 6th fastest in the state.

Cory Ryan (Norwood) won a very fast 300m race that had 5 girls under 44.0. Her time of 41.60 is MA#8.

Laurie Femmel (Natick) won the 600m in 1:36.38. Her time is #5 in the state. Meghan Bellerose (Newton North) was not far behind in 1:37.99.

Wellesley took the top 2 spots in the girls 2 mile. Eva Laurer won in 11:20.70, followed by Jessica Kaliski in 11:33.73.

Kayla Wong (Newton North) ran the 5th fastest 55m hurdles time in the state (8.53) en route to a win. She was also 2nd in the LJ at 16'9.5".

Carla Forbes (Newton North) won the 55m (7.39) and the LJ (18'3.25).

Lauren Duggan (Norwood) won the shot put in a MA#3 mark of 37'11".

Justin Keefe (Newton North) won a stacked mile race in 4:29.02. 8 athletes ran under 4:40.

Ben Groleau (Framingham) and Ezra Lichtman (Newton North) needed a photo finish to decide who won the 1000m. Groleau was confirmed as the winner in 2:38.45, with Lichtman finishing .03 behind him.

Isaiah Penn is the new state leader in the 300m at 35.58!

Stephen Sollowin (Weymouth) ran away with the 2 mile. He earned a comfortable 22 second win in 9:42.04.

Peter Farlow (Needham) is now MA#10 in the 55m hurdles at 7.96. He also won the LJ in 20'9.5".

 

Cape Ann League Championships 

Hamilton-Wenham wins the girls; Newburyport wins the boys.

Nick Healey (Newburyport)wins a close 300m race in 36.61 over Nick Capezzuto (North Reading)who ran 36.70. Healey's time is MA#17.

Meghan Goodwin (Lynnfield) wins the girls 300m in 42.35. 

Nate Downs (Wilmington) wins the 600m in 1:24.85.

Connor Lyons (Hamilton-Wenham) takes advantage of a fast Reggie Lewis Center track and runs 2:33.80 for 1000m. Ben Hiromura (Masconomet) is not far behind at 2:34.55. Lyons' time ties him for 8th best in the state. Hiromura is 10th in the state.

Kieran Kinnare (Ipswich) collects another mile victory in 4:29.57. He has yet to be pressed in a tough mile and is looking like he can go under 4:20.

Triton takes the top two spots in the boys high jump. Adam Jones and Jake Stelline tie at 6'3" but Jones gets the win based on misses.

Steve Knox (Lynnfield) wins the shot put at 50'3.75". His mark is MA#12.

 

Boston Public Schools League Championships

Boston Latin Academy wins both.

Deron Smith (West Roxbury) has a huge jump of 21'6" to win the LJ. That mark is MA#6.

Shanteana Samuals (South Boston) wins the 55m in 7.46. Her time is MA#17.

Nicolette Gordon (O'Bryant) win the 300m in 43.20. Joye Williams (West Roxbury) was a close second in 43.50. Nicolette also won the long jump in 15'5".

Adrienne Thornton (O'Bryant) wins the shot put at 34'7".

Brayboy Aidid (Snowden) blows away the field to win the 55m hurdles in 8.47. Aidid was also second in the LJ at 21'1".

 

ACL League Championships

Marshfield wins both.... by a large margin. Boys score 140 points! 

Vanessa Clerveaux (Brockton) - Double winner. 7.31 55m and 8.27 55m hurdles. 55m time is MA#6 and 55m hurdles times is MA#3. She was also 2nd in the HJ at 4'11".

Joel Hubbard (Marshfield) - 4:26.61 mile for the win and finishes 2nd in the 2 mile at 9:55.54.

Kevin Thomas (Marshfield) - Double winner. 2:38.31 1000m and 9:53.42 2 mile. 

Jordan O'Dea (Dennis-Yarmouth) - Double winner. 5:26.72 mile and helps her team to a 10:56.90 4x800m win.

Dennis-Yarmouth dominates the throws! They take 1-3-4-5 in the girls shot put and 1-2-3-6-7-8 in the boys shot put.

 

Dual Valley League Championships

Sutton wins the boys meet by 42 points and the girls meet by 75 points!

Jacob Foynes (Douglas) - DVC record 38.77 in the 300m. 

Andrew Rice (Sutton) - DVC record 2:49.82 1000m. 

Brett Buskey (Blackstone-Millville) - Double winner again. 5.70 50y dash and 39'6" shot put.

Julia Berkowicz (Whit. Christian) - DVC record 3:12.30 in the 1000m.

Ariele Krevosky (Sutton) - Double winner. 6.74 50y dash and 8.02 50y hurdles.

 

SWCL League Championships

Shepherd Hill wins both over second place Millbury.

Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester) is .70 away from the S.W.C.L. record in the 300m at 43.70.

Two freshman led the way for Shepherd Hill in the girls 1000m. Stella Worters is the event winner in 3:25.06; Haley Chamberlain is second in 3:31.33.

Emily Dawdczyk (Oxford) blows away the field in the 55m hurdles, running 8.77 in the finals.

Millbury sets a S.W.C.L. record in the 4x200. The team of Samantha FavreauRobyn ThornburgAudrey Schmidt, and Tory Miles combined to run 1:55.67.

Emily Cahill (Uxbridge) wins the HJ (5'1), wins the 55m (7.7) and is second in the 55m hurdles (9.39).

Nick Bernard (Millbury), Ethan Doyon (Oxford), and David Dumas (Tantasqua) were all separated by .55 in the 600m. Bernard is the winner in 1:32.22.

Chaz Davis (Grafton) wins the 1000m (2:47.07) and the mile (4:42.31).

 

Tri Valley League Championships

In one of the more evenly matched leagues, Hopkinton won both genders and Westwood was second in both.

Alex Stanton (Medfield)had a huge day. She won the 600m in 1:36.96, won the long jump in 16'3.5", and was second in the 55m hurdles in 9.08. She alone accounted for 28 points.

Nora Smith (Westwood) went to battle twice in one meet. She was second in the 600m (1:38.47, MA#13) and won the 1000m in 3:00.54 (MA#4). Tamara Mills (Hopkinton) was second in the 1000m at 3:00.73. Her time is MA#5.

Matt Jessup (Westwood) won the 600m 1:24.12 and the 300m in 37.04. His 600m time is MA#13.

The girls mile looked like a cross country dual meet with Hopkinton taking the first three spots and Westwood taking the next three spots. Kellie Lodge (Hopkinton) won the mile in 5:27.03 and the 2 mile in 11:44.57.

Patrick O'Donnell (Westwood) was 3rd in the mile at 4:44.09 but came back to win the 2 mile in 9:58.76.

Jeffery Corkum (Hopkinton) won the HJ at 6'4".

Vickie Palmatier (Holliston)won the shot put at 36'4.5". Her mark is MA#7.

 

Mid-Wach League Championships

Division A

Wachusett wins both genders.

Laura Williamson (Wachusett) wins the 600m (1:42.99) and the 1000m (3:08.34).

Freshman Dominique Hall (Shrewsbury) wins the 300m in 43.80.


Division B

Westborough girls score 148 and Marlborough boys score 118 in dominating wins.

Sophomore John Ojukwu (Nashoba) wins the 55m in 6.94.

Marlborough goes 1-2 in the boys 300m. Nick Lombardi wins the event in 39.32, followed by Andri Hjaltason in 39.66.

Alexa Fearing (Marlborough) and Naloti Palma (Westborough) tie at 35'1.75" in the shot. Fearing wins on her second best throw.


Division C

The Lunenburg girls win a close one, topping Bromfield by only 2.5 points. The Murdock boys edge Bromfield by only 4 points.

The freshman girls dominated Division C. Renee Capps(Narragansett) won the mile and 2 mile; Julia Rembetsy-Brown(Oakmont)won the 55m and 300m; Alexia Lipman (Bromfield) won the 600m.

Seamus Fitzpatrick (Murdock) wins the 600m (1:32.32) and the 300m (39.30).

 

 

P.V.I.A.C. League Championships

East Longmeadow girls and Northampton boys claim wins.

4 boys over 20' in the LJ. Led by Ryan Summers (Westfield) at 20'11.5 for the win.

Camile Blackman (Longmeadow) - 11:28.24 2 mile.Northampton takes 2-3-4-5 in the race.

Zac Florence (East Longmeadow) and Sam Coates-Finke (Northampton)down to the wire in the 2 mile. Florance wins by .04 in 9:56.89.

Ali McMahon (East Longmeadow) blows away the field in the 55m Hurdles running 8.88.

Brianna Tabin (South Hadley) with two big wins. 7.43 in the 55m and 42.50 in the 300m.

Christopher Gonzalez (Northampton) holds on for the win in the 55m by .10 over Ariel Vallelanes (Amherst).

4 girls run sub 1:42.00 in the 600m.

John Horstman (South Hadley) - 1:26.43 600m.

 

NEC League Championships

Peabody wins both. The boys score 107.5 points.

Catarina Rocha (Peabody)- 5:04.59 mile. #1 in the state! She won by over 25 seconds.

Oliver Narcisse (Swampscott) - Winner of the 55m in 6.59. #8 in the state.

Nick Christensen (Peabody) - Winner of the mile in 4:31.27.

Kevin Hurd (Gloucester) - 1:23.10 600m and 2:35.31 1000m.

Zachary Grube (Peabody) - Winner of the HJ at 6'4"

Olisa Obiefuna (Saugus) - 21'7.25 LJ. Tied for #4 in the state.

 

Old Colony League Championships

Bridgewater-Raynham wins both genders.

Freshman Amanda Henson (Barnstable) wins the 55m in 7.59.

Freshman Andrew Doherty (Taunton) wins the 1000m in 2:47.67.

Riley Marion (Dartmouth) wins the 600m by .09 over Sarah Frye (B-R). Bridgewater-Raynham takes 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Mike Norgaard wins the 600m in 1:26.77.

Kim Gabriele (B-R) - 42.89 300m.

Bridgewater-Raynham sweeps the girls shot put. B-R boys take 2-4 behind Grunde Brandso of Dartmouth at 49'7".
