Viviana Hanley and Bishop Freehan earn Division II titles; Pembroke Boys score 35!!!
Beautiful weather and a 2.9 mile course resulted in some blistering times. Division II race winner Viviana Hanley (16:28) posted the fastest time of the day and helped Bishop Feehan to a 24 point victory over Hamilton-Wenham (85 points). The Lady Shamrock Harriers successfully defended their All State Championship by placing all five runners in the top 25.
Shrewsbury’s John Murray (14:04) proved why he is currently ranked in the top 25 nationally by posting the fastest time of the day and winning the Division I Boys race.
The Brookline boys prevailed over top ranked Lowell with an impressive 16 point victory in the Division I race. The surprise of the day (or not a surprise at all if you watched them over the past 3 weeks) was Oliver Ames in 3rd place just 13 points behind Lowell.
Sophomore sensations Catarina Rocha (16:42) of Peabody and Jordan O’Deay (16:51) of Dennis-Yarmouth both placed second in their respective races. The future looks bright.
Senior Andrea Keklak (16:36) of Lincoln-Sudbury won the individual Division I title but Weymouth (92 points) took the team title over Wachusett (111 points). Weymouth’s 5th runner, Bridget Jaklitsch, finished an astonishing 29th place in the team scoring; which was better than the #1 runner from several teams.
The Pembroke boys (#20 in the nation) posted a score of 35 points to win the Division II race. Wesley Gallagher (14:20.5) led the way by narrowly winning the individual title over Dana Dourdeville (14:20.8) and prompting the 79 point victory over Hamilton-Wenham.
