Massachusetts had plenty more to offer beyond the names already spotlighted this indoor season. Freshmen and sophomores across the state kept stacking performances at championship meets, and this group is no exception.
Here's a look at four more who stood out among the next generation!
Strickler finished the indoor season ranked second in both the 300m at 40.74 and the long jump at 18-06.50 among underclassmen this indoor season, with both performances coming at championship-level meets. A pair of top-two finishes across two completely different disciplines is a versatility that's hard to ignore for a freshman.
Donahue led all underclassmen in the two-mile at 10:53.98 and was No. 3 in the mile at 5:00.43 this season thanks to her PB at New Balance Nationals. She also placed towards the top end in the state in both the 600m and 1000m, giving her one of the deepest distance profiles in the state among sophomores this winter.
Thomas led underclassmen in both the 55m, at 6.46, and the long jump, at 22-04.50. Topping both lists in the same season is notable on its own, but the long jump mark itself is one of the best in the state, regardless of class, and puts him well ahead of everyone else in the sophomore class.
Johnson finished third among underclassmen in the two-mile at 9:36.62 and added a top-ten mile finish, making him one of the strongest freshman distance athletes in the state this indoor season. His two-mile mark puts him No. 17 on the all-time freshman lists.
