Last week, MileSplit posted this article asking the community to vote for their top girls Track & Field performer of 2019. Our community responded with over 9,800 votes. The poll quickly turned into a battle between two girls, Summer Bejarano of Silver Lake Regional High and Charlotte Kouroriez of Newton North High School. These two girls ended up taking home 94.37% of the total votes.

The rising High School Sophomore, Bejarano, ended up coming out on top between the two girls, receiving over half (53.14%) of the votes. Bejarano is coming off of an Outdoor Track & Field season highlighted by a 11:12.02 Two Mile performance at the MSTCA Invitational, finishing second behind Natick High School 2019 graduate and future Stanford University runner, Grace Connolly. Bejarano's Two Mile performance also broke a 36 year old school record at Silver Lake Regional High

Alongside her impressive 2 Mile performance, Beharano also ran an Outdoor Track & Field personal record One Mile of 5:14.42 - good enough for second place - clocked at the MSTCA Freshman/Sophomore Meet - Small & Large School. She impressed during her indoor season as well, running a personal best One Mile time of 5:11.73 at the MIAA Division 3 Championships, where she finished 4th overall. With three more years of High School running still ahead of her, Bejarano looks to be the future face of Massachusetts running and the Massachusetts MileSplit community has already acknowledged it.

Charlotte Kouroriez ended up pulling over 41% of the votes herself, having received 4050 votes. Kouroriez impressed during her Spring season having clocked the fasted One Mile time for all Freshmen girls of the season. She ran a 5:13.47 at the Notre Dame Last Chance Meet on May 18th. She also ran an impressive 800m personal record of 2:20.66 at the BSC Championship meet. Kouroriez's Indoor Track & Field season was highlighted by performances like her 1:37.72 600m, 2:58.41 1000m, and 60.19 400m times. Kouroriez tore up the middle distance time sheets this past year and has three more years to continue to improve upon her already impressive running resume.
