Runners To Watch: Rebekeh James, Shepherd Hill

During the next few weeks leading up to the beginning of the cross-country season, MileSplit MA will highlight some of our top returning runners this fall. We graduated some outstanding harriers from last year, but we still have an impressive list of talent coming back this season with hopes of making their marks on the dirt trails.

Rebekah James, Shepherd Hill

James had a strong junior season on the trails last fall. She's captured the Mid-Wach A League Championships. She also had wins at the Bay State Invitational and the Central Massachusetts Division 1 meet. The Ram standout finished off her season against her MA rivals by placing fifth overall at the All State Meet where she ran 18:48.12 at Wrentham's 3.1-mile layout.  James, who focused primarily on the mile run during the indoor and outdoor track seasons, clocking a PB of 5:02, should be among the mix this year with the possibility of challenging her all-time best of 18:24 for the 5K distance. She cruised to that time as freshman in the fall of 2015, placing eighth overall at the All State Meet at Stanley Park, the same site at this year's meet.
