Division 4 - Wednesday
Let's begin with the girls. Medway's Ava Vasile will be looking to make it to the top of the podium twice on Wednesday. Vasile is ranked No. 1 in both the 55-meter hurdles and the 300m. Vasile's toughest challenge appears to be in the hurdles where she's matched against Pentucket's Saige Tudisco. Vasile is ranked No. 2 in the state with her best of 8.49 seconds. Tudisco is just .02 behind with an 8.51 effort. Vasile stands alone with her fast 40.41 for 300m.
If Tudisco can pull out the win in the hurdles, she has a chance to make it twice as nice at the divisionals. She goes in as the top seed in the high jump with her best of 5 feet, 5 inches, a leap that ties her for third statewide.
In the girls' shot, Dennis-Yarmouth's Tiana Blazie will be eyeing the 40-foot mark. She has a seed of 39-7. If she can achieve the feat, she'll become the third from MA this winter.
The race of the day might be the boys' 1,000m. Far ahead of their closest competitors are sub 2:33 guys - Benjamin Gordon-Sniffen of Northampton (2:32.61) and Amherst-Pelham's Aiden Foucault-Etheridge (2:32.69).
The boys' high jump could be an epic duel between Medfield teammates John McNeil and Noah Garfield, who both have cleared 6-5 this winter.
At the far corner of the track, the boys' shot has potential to be a hotly-contested event with three guys over 48 feet - Apponoquet's Kaiden Swainamer (48-7), Wakefield's Patrick Redmond (48-2.25) and Dracut's Joshua Salem (48-1).
