Sub-7 Clocking For Williams At New England's

During the final year of her outstanding career, Norton's Brooke-Lynn Williams had a plethora of performances we could list in this article. The one we feel may have a slight edge over the rest came in the 55-meter dash at the New England Championships on March 4. All season long, Williams came agonizingly close to breaking seven seconds for the short dash. Although we had some strong sprinters last year in the state, none could challenge Williams in her specialty and she won most of her races convincingly leading up to the New England's. She finally met her match at the regional competition with Connecticut's Cassidy Palmer of Bloomfield in the field. Williams was not only able to hold off Palmer to secure her second straight New England title but clocked her fastest time of the season of 6.94 seconds! That effort ranked her No. 6 in the country at the time.
