In last year's Division 5 meet, Newburyport's Sam Acquaviva was in second place behind teammate and eventual winner Jack Carleo in the last 400 meters of the race only to be passed by Watertown's James PIccirilli and Norwell's Steven O'Driscoll the last stretch of the race. Acquaviva made sure that wouldn't happen again on Saturday by running a controlled race, one he led from start to finish. He just cracked 16 minutes, finishing with a time of 15:59.78. Westwood's Zach Conant was second (16:16.77) and Nauset Regional's Brian Brooks took third (16:17.39).
Newburyport beat runner-up Plymouth North, 89-135. The Clippers secured the title by placing four of their runners before Plymouth South's second finisher.
