Massachusetts Cross-Country Runners To Watch: Mike Griffin, King Philip Regional

Mike Griffin, King Philip Regional

In 2016-17, this Warrior standout was one of our top freshman runners, finishing  with best of 4:20 for the mile and sub 10 minutes for two miles.

Don't be surprised if Griffin challenges up front in most major meets this fall, including the All State Finals in mid November. The KP star clocked his best time for the 5K distance of 16:27.61 at the Eastern Division 3 Championships where he finished second overall to Arlington's Ryan Oosting, this year's overwhelming favorite to win the Div. 2 crown at the All States.  He also ran 16:39 to place third overall at the Bay State Championships.

After successful track seasons on the indoor and outdoor surfaces, Griffin proved his summer training has been going well this past Sunday when he beat a talented field in Falmouth to capture the Thomas Chochary High School Mile with an impressive time of 4:26.08, edging St. John Prep's Tristan Shelgren by just .30.
