Massachusetts Memorable Outdoor T&F Moments: Shira Stoller, Javelin, New England Championship

Shira Stoller

Javelin, New England Championships

The Sharon High junior was the state and New England runner-up last year, both times finishing behind Dighton-Rehoboth's Julia Campezato. Stoller again finished second to Campezato at the Coaches Invitational in mid May. But to say she picked it up a notch from that performance would be an understatement to the highest degree. Stoller simply dominated after that meet and by season's end improved on her personal best by more than 20 feet!

The Sharon standout won the Hockomock League, Eastern Division 2 and MIAA All State championship meets. But the best of them all occurred at the New England Championships on June 10 where she heaved a PB of 148-8, leading a 1-2-3 sweep by the Bay State with Dracut's Erin McMeniman placing second and Campezato taking third. The following week, Stoller nearly achieved All-American status in her specialty, finishing eighth at the New Balance Nationals
