D5 Team
Hoping to return to their winning ways, Hamilton-Wenham girls are the clear cut favorites among D5 teams this season. After winning the team trophy in 2013 and 2014, the Lady Generals had to hand it over to Old Rochester last year. Though due to the graduation of Old Rochester's #1 and #2 runners, a repeat victory is not looking like a real possibility.
Wenham has a terrific 1-2 punch in Olivia Horgan and Grace Moroney, who should both be in the Top 5 at Wrentham and vying for Top 15 spots at the All-State Meet. Probably the only reason Hamilton-Wenham came up a bit short three-peat in 2015 was an off day by Moroney. Though we imagine she'll not want to taste defeat for the second straight year and should be firing on all cylinders this fall.
While they might seem a bit out of the hunt, keep an eye on the Weston squad. Jillian Howard is a big low stick for that team and if they can tighten up those #3-#5 spots, we can see them make a run at second.
