Andover Sweeps Haverhill Invitational

The Massachusetts Track and Field season kicked off yesterday with its first major Invitational. The 38th Annual John Ottaviani Invitational in Haverhill provided a glimpse at what will be an exciting season. The defending indoor All State Champions picked up right where they left off, as the Andover boys took home the team title edging the home team from Haverhill.

Andover hurdler Sebastian Silveira opended the season with a state leading 14.44 in the 110 Meter hurdles. "Prelims went really well and the finals could have been better if I didn't hit so many hurdles, but overall it was a great race for this early in the season." said Silveira

The Andover superstar hurdler will bd looking to set some personal records this spring. "My goals for this season are to try and break 14 seconds in the 110h and 55 seconds in the 400h. I'm looking forward to running in the Nashua North Invitational where I can run the 300h and I'm also excited for the Weston Twilight Meet, which always has great competition."

The Warriors also captured the girls team title as they rolled over the competion by thirty plus points. They scored victories in the Javelin, Triple Jump and High Jump.
