Middle School League Testing Milesplitmass !

=Middle School League testing Milesplitmass !

I am sure Milesplitmass fans have noticed a bunch of Middle School League results appearing on the results feed lately.  Milesplitmass has been testing the Racetab Results system with the South Shore Middle School League this fall. The 9 team league that includes Whitman, Hanson, Randolph, Marshfield, Pembroke, Hanover, Norwell, Silver Lake, and Hingham has adopted Milesplit to manage all the results, records, photo's, video's and more. After each meet the race is loaded into the free Milesplit software called Racetab and the results get posted imediatley on the Massachusetts site.

Racetab was developed by Milesplit so the communication between the software and the website is fantastic and best of all it's free. The Middle school level is the perfect place to get coaches to use Racetab. They have a limited budget and very little exposure, so it's a perfect fit !

"MileSplit certainly gave our runners a sense of accomplishment and pride as they eagerly checked their results each week.  The professional and informative display of information was well-received by many of our parents.  I received many positive comments on a weekly basis.  Coaches were afforded the opportunity on a weekly basis to analyze results from meets across the league.  This allowed myself and my fellow coaches to better plan workouts in order to prepare for future matchups.  Having knowledge of opponents' top runners proved invaluable in setting up our own game plans." said Hanover Middle School Coach Paul Economos

On the High School State level the results are produced by a software called Hytek, although it works with Milesplit there are a few extra steps to get all the athletes in the database. Milesplit would like leagues start to utilize racetab more and more on the the League level.  It's pretty much an automatic system, as long as the Rosters and Schedules are managed by the teams, it would get all those dual meet perfrmances in the system.

There is a reason some of these top teams are on top year after year, they have a great feeder system from the middle school level. The Massachusetts Middle School Cross Country Championship had 1800 competitors in 2012, that's double the size from the previous year.

"It's growing at an incredible pace on the middle school level and it really opened my eyes both as a coach and as the State Webmaster. We started a middle school program this year because we needed to at least expose these kids to the sport before they reached us at the High School level. Hopefully in a few years it will be strong enough to help support our high school team, said Norwell Coach Chuck Martin.

"The middle school program in general has experienced widespread growth among all schools involved this season.  Our program has created both a competitive and social outlet for so many of our runners.  I think all coaches would agree that cross country at the middle school level not only prepares future high school runners with basic running skills and competitive experience, but also establishes a solid foundation for self-pride and discipline. " said Coach Economos

Milesplitmass will be looking to add many more middle school leagues next season. "If we can get the leagues to use Racetab then it becomes an automated system, then there is much less time and labor involved." said Martin

RaceTab 3 has replaced RaceTab 2. It is available for Windows only, although it can run on a Mac with a Virtual Windows program. You also must have the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed.
