ANDOVER — Asked if he owned the Haverhill High record in the 100-meter dash a week ago, the very modest Alex Mayhew — with the help of more than a little encouragement — provided a prediction with his answer.
“No, not yet,” he said with a laugh.
Yesterday, Mayhew made good on his promise.
The Haverhill High senior broke the school record not once but twice in the dash, finishing with a 10.95 for one of his two individual victories yesterday at the Merrimack Valley Conference Meet at Eugene V. Lovely Field.
