Whether she had to work her way through an early pack of runners, or take an early lead and build on it, Lincoln-Sudbury senior Marika Crowe came up big, easily winning the 1000 and anchoring the 4x800 to victory as the Warriors finished second in the Division 1 State Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center. Acton-Boxboro boys, Newton North girls win Division 1 track championships Feb 20, 2012

The Acton-Boxboro relay team of Dominic Abacherli, Nick Usoff, Eric Nord, and Brian Sommers won the 4 x 400 at yesterday’s MIAA Division 1 Indoor Track and Field championship at the Reggie Lewis Center, clinching the meet for the Colonials for the first time in school history. (via Boston.com)

Division 1 Indoor Championships Highlights Feb 19, 2012

Newton North continues to accomplish what is unimaginable to most teams, and this time they may have outdone themselves.  They scored 20 points in the long jump with four different girls contributing to the total.  Most teams would be thrilled to score 20 points in a meet, or have one athlete in the finals of a major division championship.  The depth was on display as a bevy of athletes assumed their role within the program for the greater good of the team.  The entire situation speaks volumes about the character of the athletes and the trust they have in the coaching staff.

Division Champions 1918 to 2011: Who's next? Feb 16, 2012

Chuck Martin has compiled every division champion since 1918. Equally impressive to the list itself are the teams that were able to string together multiple consecutive championships.  St. John’s put together six in a row from 1957 to 1962.  The Newton South girls and Mansfield girls are both sitting on three consecutive championships.  Can they make it four this week?
